    Time Event
    12:35a
    My head hurts a bit.
Damn. I actually had no intention of doing the dishes tonight, but I'd run out of bowls and...crap, it's the last of the chocolate ice cream. I could've eaten it out of the carton. Dammit, I did the dishes out of stupidity!

I blame the very mild headache I'm suffering right now. No, I will not take something for it. It'll go away soon enough after a shower or after I sleep, I hope. And I prefer not to take pills of any kind if I can avoid it. When I die, they will probably say "well, she might have lived if she'd ever gone to a hospital in the last twenty years." God forbid, however. Good grief, they might tell me I have something wrong with me.

Plus I'm fighting the urge to go to bed. Not a very strong urge, true. I still have that childish--no, adultish urge not to go to bed. I fight it as long as I can. I don't want to go to sleep. Sleep means I'm not doing anything but dreaming. And lately I haven't been faring as well in my nightmares as usual. I've actually had to run away again, and while I don't really mind the pain or sensation of dying, it's not as much fun as being able to turn around and fire plasma bolts at the things chasing me. I must develop a stronger dream spine.

And I do have fics to get to. I have four files open right now, my Vidia Disney Fairy fic which got one review on ff.net, yay and of which I would love to get the second chapter out, my werewolf!Draco fic which I have perhaps a third of a page of the next chapter of, my new tmnt fic where Splinter is the evil bastard I know he is but that he's fooled the rest of the fandom, you poor too-trusting things, and my collaborative fic with [info]crabapplered, of which I'm extremely smug about. I love people who can draw since it's one of those skills that I can only equal a six year old with, and come on! I get to write a fic that has an awesome pic with every part. How many writers ever get a chance like that? Talk about lucky. Especially for an inconsistent, canon-mangling, can't take any criticism bitch like me?

While we're on that subject, how many of you actually got to read that little fandom war that occurred on my LJ roughly a month and a half ago, before I went and privated it? You know the one, happened during a turtlecest fic where I was "writing my character as an asshole"? Go on, admit it, I would've merrily followed the drama as it unfurled, too. I'm just curious since it detailed how I write what I want to write regardless of what anyone else thinks (which is why I'm still working on that Vidia fic that actually got a review last week) and my reviews have tapered off a tiny bit. Of course that's not because my readers have lives outside of fandom, it's all about me. It just sort of struck me that writing and not really caring about what other people think of me or said fic is apparently such anathema. (You'd think my handle would tip people off about me.)

Oh well. Ice cream's good. Gonna get a bit done of the werewolf!Draco fic. The last chapter was a bit thin, the readers said so, and they were right. I don't believe in going back and editing stuff I've put out, not fair to the reader, so this chapter must be a bit more embellished.

I'm sorry these fics are taking quite awhile. Not that I ever updated quickly (aside from that first Bad Places, but that was a painful fluke), but real life is rather stressful and that collaborative fic is taking a lot of my time. I'm very happy with it, and I never would've attempted anything like it without Red's input (indeed, the story is really her baby and I'm just trying not to fuck it enormously), but it has taken a lot of my writing karma. Unlike some people, I cannot seem to manage a full time job and a full time writing schedule. Ironically, the person I'm thinking of also is a mother to a decent sized family, so I don't know how the hell she does it.

And look at the time now. I think this rant might be onto something.

If you don't like a webcomic, wouldn't you stop reading it?

I dropped reading [info]deegan_fan since it's nothing but whiny complainers who tear down the comic, the art, the story, the characters, everything, and insult people if they like it or if they complain about the complainers.

Everything I read doesn't have to be freakin' Shakespeare. There's nothing wrong with enjoying a comic because it's just fun to read. If it stops being fun, why would not only continue to read it but make yourself a leech on everyone else's enjoyment?

"And we will do the whole marathon with no water,"
Blood and water fuel Maasai warriors' marathon
LONDON (Reuters) - They survive on fresh blood drained from the neck of a living cow, they often run for days and nights on end to find water and their shoes are made from car tires cut up and strapped to their feet.

So running the London Marathon should be no problem for six Maasai warriors who have come to Britain from their village of Elaui in northern Tanzania as part of a campaign to raise money to find a vital water source (www.maasaimarathon.org).

Dutch court: Geert Wilders has free-speech right to criticize Islam
Amazing, the things that are litigable these days. This wasn’t the public prosecution hinted at by the Dutch government last week but “merely” a private suit filed by the Netherlands Islamic Foundation to have criticism of Islam deemed an “incitement” under Dutch law and thereby worthy of being censored. Note the rationale:
According to the judge, the term fascism must be seen in a broader context. The NIF associated it with the Holocaust and ‘other evil practices from Nazi Germany’. But fascism should, said the judge, be seen as ‘a collective term for ideologies which fundamentally embrace a totalitarian political system which leaves no room for people with other ideas’.

When it came to Mohammed, the NIF was unable during the hearing to deny that he was a barbarian, reports ANP. Furthermore, the organisation was not able to disprove the fact that Islam consists of beliefs that are in contradiction to democratic principles, the judge said.

Is Hugo Chavez Friends with FARC?
A spectacular find may prove what many have long suspected. E-mails and other files found on a FARC laptop in the jungles of Ecuador show that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez may have close relations with the terror group.

Chavez insists that he has never sent the rebels money or arms. After the saber rattling with Colombian leader Uribe, he is portraying himself as a man of peace. But former rebels and intelligence experts confirm the connection with the guerrillas.

    Inkjet tattoo paper
These decal papers enable you to use your inkjet printer to print 'tattoos' that look just like the real thing - from your own customised designs. They take minutes to do and, if left unscrubbed, will last up to a week.

The tattoo sheets come in twos: one printable A4 sheet and one adhesive film. irst print your tattoo onto the printable sheet (remembering to reverse your image/text - your computer will enable you to do this). Then transfer the image onto the adhesive sheet and apply it to the skin. Peel off the adhesive film - and it's done.

A unique chocolate made to look like a beetle larva has captured the fancy of candy aficionados in Japan. Produced by the Komatsuya confectionery and bakery based in Akita prefecture, the bite-sized Larva Chocolates (Youchu Choco) have a grub-shaped body made from milk chocolate and corn flakes, a layer of skin made from white chocolate, legs made from tiny strips of dried squid, and a dainty mouth made from orange peel.

And a Hello Kitty bento box!

I'm think of adding these blogs to my list of sites on the right side of my LJ front page.

    Mugabe militants target whites farmers
HARARE, Zimbabwe - Militant supporters of President Robert Mugabe targeted whites Monday, forcing about a dozen ranchers and farmers off their land as Zimbabwe's longtime ruler fanned racial tensions amid fears he will turn to violence to hold on to power.

During a talk at a funeral Sunday, the president urged Zimbabweans to defend land seized from white farmers in recent years, the state-controlled Herald newspaper said. "This is our soil and the soil must never go back to the whites," Mugabe said, referring to whites by the pejorative Shona term "mabhunu," the Herald reported.

Mugabe's land reform program was supposed to redistribute among poor blacks large commercial farms owned by about 4,500 whites that covered 80 percent of Zimbabwe's best land. Instead, he used the farms to extend his patronage system, giving them to ruling party leaders, security chiefs, relatives and friends.

Zimbabwe had been a major food exporter until then, but its agricultural sector collapsed and the economy started unraveling. Today a third of Zimbabweans depend on international food handouts, and another third have fled abroad looking for work or political asylum.

Eighty percent of Zimbabwe's workers don't have jobs, and the country suffers chronic shortages of medicine, food, fuel, water and electricity as inflation blazes at 100,000 percent a year. The elite that still lives in luxury has a vested interest in keeping Mugabe in power. He makes them rich with gifts of land, government contracts and business licenses.
