Okay, an LJ user name with a strike-thru means they deleted their journal, right? What if the LJ name is rendered with no strike-thru and yet no link, either? Like you go to check/edit your friends list and one of the names is just black text? Is that like they've gone beyond the time they have to change their minds about deletion, or are they like...gone-gone?

...why do all the clothing stores only have those ugly tops with the necklines that plunge down to the belt?

    For those who tl;dr'd, basically:

    1. Lie in bed and close your eyes. Wait without falling asleep. DO NOT MOVE AT ALL.
    2. After a while (10-20 mins) you will get a VERY powerful urge to move. DO NOT MOVE AT ALL
    3. there is no 3

Turns out this is a way to trick your body that your mind is asleep, so that it goes into sleep mode while your mind is still awake. Supposedly good for entering lucid dreaming, but it can also lead to night hag syndrome.

The site linked to is a little silly, but the bit above is kosher. I tried it last night. I didn't lie on my back, I settled in my usual position on my side and stayed very still, breathing as if I was asleep. It took less than five minutes for my body to see if I was asleep, and then I felt that weird pressure and total awareness of my body as it started to sleep without me.

Unfortunately it was too intense, I remembered all the nightmares I get and started to freak out about how bad they'd be if I was awake and thought they were real, and for some reason I was sure I'd see something evil with fangs coming out of the closet (which has no door). I brought myself out of it before I'd gone too deep.

Next time I shall try when it's fairly light outside.

Saudis said to choose against building a Catholic church
Riyadh, Mar. 25, 2008 (CWNews.com) - The president of the Middle East Center for Strategic Studies, Anwatr al Oshqi, has reported that Saudi Arabia’s royal family has decided against building a Catholic church in the kingdom.

Earlier this month Vatican Radio reported that the Saudi government was weighing a proposal for the construction of a Catholic church. That report came as a surprise, since the Saudi regime does not allow public worship by any faith other than Islam.

In November 2007, when King Abdullah became the first reigning Saudi king ever to visit the Vatican, Pope Benedict XVI (bio - news) urged him to allow the building of a Catholic church.

While it was not an official response to that request, Al Oshqi’s report carries considerable weight because it was made during a broadcast on the Al Arabiya news channel, which is owned by the Saudi royal family.

I typically avoid posting LOLcats by themselves, 'cause lots of people already visit icanhascheezburger.com, but this was just so good for me I had to post.
