This webcomic is genius. ...oh thank God. I can finally stop getting pissed when they tell me I lost on 4chan. I know it's stupid but I can't help it. But I finally won. Yay. I can forget about it now. | | 4:40p |
Oh thank goodness. I was afraid I was gonna keep backsliding out of the 400 friends and back into the 300s. I lost two in drama and a couple cleaned out their flists, and it only takes a couple to drop me back. But yay, new friend.
* One of the reviews I got on ff.net: I really hoped that the sequel would have that same "Oath Breaker" feel to it
Man, so do I. I'm always hyperaware of mood shift between sequels, where even though it's the same characters and the same world, something always feels off. It's kinda like the difference between seeing yourself in a parallel reality, I guess. I think this should go well, though. I feel like I've got a decent hold on these characters. They practically write themselves, hence the inclusion of Narcissa. I planned for her to be dead or gone off conveniently out of the way towards the end of Oath Breaker, but no one wanted her to leave. First time I not only kept a female in the middle of a slash pairing, but also felt happy to do it. I think it's partially because the Malfoys are so reserved. I couldn't do it if they were overly demonstrative. Of course that also helps in that I don't have to fully go into exactly what Lucius, Severus and Narcissa are to each other. I can dance around the subject and either they'll fill in the missing blankets themselves or keep their secrets.
I also need to go into more depth about Harry's life with the Malfoys. I know from the reviews that they're coming off to some as arrogant, bigoted and stuck-up. Which they are, but they do have redeeming qualities, and their bigotry and intolerance of some wizards isn't unrelenting. But I need to delve into it a bit, and I'm looking forward to playing with their home life and the way they all interact. Stuff like this always reminds me of the ending of the first Doom game. "Rebuilding the earth should be a lot more fun than destroying it was." I blew up their house in the first story. Now I get to put them back together again. | | 7:21p |
Bankruptcy makes gift cards worthless NEW YORK - You know that Sharper Image gift card you got for Christmas? Right now, it's worthless. And other gift cards in your wallet could lose their value, too. As more retailers file for bankruptcy or go out of business, more than $75 million in gift cards are at risk of becoming worthless pieces of plastic this year.
The Sharper Image announced late last month that it was suspending the acceptance of gift cards, at least temporarily. It urged shoppers to check the company Web site later this month for an update. That is typical of businesses that reorganize under Chapter 11 bankruptcy, which treats gift cards as a loan to the company, not as cash.
For many shoppers, it's a harsh lesson about the risks of gift cards. Consumers spent an estimated $26.3 billion in gift cards at retailers alone last holiday season, compared with $24.8 billion in 2006 and $18.48 billion in 2005, according to the National Retail Federation.

Girls Accepting Sexual Assault At School As Fact Of Life: ReportsWhen you went to school, chances are the worst thing you faced was the schoolyard bully, the occasional fight in the field or some less than good-natured teasing. Hard as it may seem to believe, those were the good old days. It appears a growing number of young girls are not only being sexually assaulted on campus, but have come to think of it as a normal part of their educational experience.
"It's totally unacceptable and it's unfortunate that our young teenagers feel this way. We need to take action. We need to help our young people realize that this is not appropriate behaviour," urged the Toronto District School Board's director Gerry Connelly.
Recent studies from both the Board's Safety Panel and the Canadian Centre for Addiction and Mental Health show some shocking stats at one school: 33 per cent say they've been sexually harassed in the past two years; another 29 admit to having been touched or grabbed inappropriately and seven per cent have actually been victims of a major sexual assault. Sometimes I feel like my icon. ...started another TMNT fic, Hiding in Sunlight. I couldn't help it, I had to write it. I was thinking of the plot all the time.
So that's Oath Breaker 2, Twisted Autumn, Vipers Ascendant, Spoils of War, Bad Places 3, the veela!Draco fic and Wolf in Serpent's Clothing that I'm actively thinking about. But who knows, maybe another fic will suddenly jump back into my head and refuse to let go. Like that KH2 fic. Or my Chrono Trigger fic. Or maybe, God willing, I might finish that Team Rocket fic... |
