One of the wank journals had a topic that included medical testing on death row inmates. Being a Texan, my opinion on that is probably obvious, and besides that's where some superheroes often come from (Luke Cage coming to mind first).

Anyway, one of the threads mentioned that Australia has no death row inmates, so should they simply starting doing tests on themselves? And my first thought was "well, they are mostly descended from exiled criminals..."

Yes, I know, bad kitty. But honestly, that was such a straight line...it's not my fault I immediately took that mental route.

I've finished getting all my pop culture icons and am working on miscellaneous stuff like the Asian stuff right now. After this folder I'll collect my political icons and I'll be done. Probably a couple more days.

    Deadly bombs end Bangkok's celebration
BANGKOK, Thailand - Nine bombs exploded across Bangkok as the Thai capital celebrated the New Year, killing three people and driving thousands of revelers home after the city was forced to cancel festivities.

Hospital staff and officials said 38 people were injured, at least nine of them foreigners.

"There are two potential suspects, Muslim insurgents and Thaksin's residual power," said Thitinan Pongsudhirak, a political scientist at Chulalongkorn University. "I tend to think it's residual power. I suspect the previous regime."

Thaksin's lawyer denied the former prime minister's involvement in the bombings on the Web site of the newspaper Matichon.

Bombings and shootings occur almost daily in Thailand's three southernmost provinces of Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani, where an Islamic insurgency that flared in January 2004 has killed more than 1,900 people.

For Lesbians, the Party Never Stopped in Bangkok
ON the night of Sept. 19, military leaders in Thailand suspended the constitution, seized control of Bangkok and imposed martial law. Someone forgot to tell the lesbians.

Several nights after the nonviolent coup, a crush of cheering women crowded around the stage at Shela, a lesbian nightclub near the city's major downtown park, Lumpini, where a popular singer, Palmy, was performing. Fans crammed the balcony, imported whiskey was flowing at every table and a lone tom, local slang for a butch lesbian, was dancing by herself behind the pool table.

Coup or not, it was just another night out for Bangkok's puying rak puying, or women who love women.

Five years ago, this scene would have been unthinkable. Lesbians either met each other at non-gay establishments or through word-of-mouth parties and restaurants. But thanks to the rapidly expanding Thai Internet, and a growing number of younger, more self-possessed lesbians, two nightclubs and several weekly parties catering exclusively to lesbians have opened in Bangkok in the past two years.
