Oath Breaker II
Draco froze at the bottom of the stairs. Something was wrong. His father, his mother...Severus was not at the table. Draco looked around to see if Severus was at the bookshelves or at the hearth--
"He's outside," Narcissa said. "In the garden."
About to ask why, Draco thought better of it and kept his mouth shut. Best to stay out of arguments between his parents.
Twisted Autumn
His brother had mentioned loosening the chains, but he'd been too wrapped up in playing with him while he couldn't get away to do so. Leonardo's wrists and ankles throbbed under the metal, but while he didn't think they were tight enough to do more than bruise, he tried to move them as little as possible.
In a way, he was glad he didn't have to move. Raphael had brought up several things that he didn't want to think about yet. Later on he'd have to confront them, since he didn't think he'd be able to sleep until he was sure one way or the other. Today had been more intense than he expected.
Spoils of War
"Don't you start," Harry said. He shrugged unbuttoned his robes and then the muggle shirt he usually wore underneath, but he didn't take off either, still too uncomfortable to do so. "You must be feeling better if you're teasing me."
Holding the robe in his arms, Draco's laughed once. "If you think I'm getting too uppity, there are punish...punishments...I mean, you could--" His voice thickened until he couldn't speak, and his smile faltered. He looked away as he struggled to get his breathing back under control.
Harry cupped his hand around Draco's face, gently tilting his head up. Two tears fell down his cheeks.
"No," Harry murmured. "Never. Not even as some bedroom kink."
Werewolf in Snake's Clothing
"We don't have to be enemies," Harry said. "Whatever happened in the past...we can change that."
"I can't change what I am," Draco said bitterly, as if he'd been insulted. He curled in as far as he could until pain shot through his side, making him tremble. "I'm a pureblood and a Malfoy. I won't change any of it for your stupid Order."
To their mutual surprise, Draco's little show of defiance made Harry snort in amusement. Wounded and facing punishment from whoever captured him, Draco still let his pride run away with his mouth. And that mouth curled in a faint pout that would've been even more amusing if it hadn't been speckled with blood.
Shred by a Whisper (my Vidia fic)
Then she was off to find Fawn, a forest talent fairy. That meant Vidia had to scour the whole forest searching for her, but she started in a circle around the Home Tree and flew wider and wider circles until she spotted her near the root of an oak tree, cutting a fellow fairy free from an old spiderweb. It was slow work. Every time Fawn cut free a wing or a foot, the other fairy stumbled and tangled up again while trying to balance herself.
Vidia quickly lost her patience and swooped down just as Fawn sliced a wing free. Without any warning, Vidia grabbed the trapped fairy's hand and yanked her forward, ignoring the sudden yelp of pain. Beneath her, Fawn drowned it out with her own cry of triumph as she slashed the last tenacious strands and darted away before they could snag her, too.
"Finally!" Fawn said, turning around. "Thank yo--oh. Vidia. Um, thanks."
